Why The Considered Edit?

The Considered Edit grew out of more than two decades working in hospitality and travel, and a growing sense that meaningful trips deserve more than a search engine and a shortlist.

Travel has never been easier to plan, yet truly meaningful journeys can still be difficult to create. The Considered Edit offers a thoughtful, highly personalised approach to travel, helping you cut through the noise, focus on what matters most, and experience destinations in a more meaningful way.

With an overwhelming number of recommendations, rankings and social media highlights competing for attention, the challenge is no longer finding places to visit but deciding which experiences are truly worth your time. The most rewarding journeys are rarely those packed with endless activity; they are the ones that reflect your interests, values and preferred pace of travel.

The Considered Edit was created to provide independent, carefully considered travel guidance tailored to each individual traveller. Every itinerary is shaped around personal interests and priorities, drawing on a deep appreciation for architecture, landscape, food, culture and a strong sense of place.

Rather than following trends or ticking off landmarks, I focus on uncovering experiences that foster curiosity, connection and genuine enjoyment. Through careful research and thoughtful planning, each journey is edited with intention.

No sponsored placements. No paid recommendations. Just independent advice, thoughtfully curated with care.

About Claire Ash

Hospitality, From the Inside

For over twenty years, I sourced, renovated and ran a collection of six design-led holiday properties across Brittany - featured in The Guardian, The Observer, GQ and The Independent.

Welcoming guests, and managing every aspect of their stay, gave me a deep understanding of what travellers need, and of the small often unnoticed details that quietly define whether a stay feels exceptional, or disappointing.

It also means I understand what hospitality feels like from the inside, not just how it appears, but how it works.

A Trained Eye

Before that, I worked in television production, researching and assessing locations for filming;  a discipline that trains you to look beyond surface beauty and ask whether a place genuinely works.

I studied geography, which gave me a lasting understanding of landscape, region, and context, something that I draw on constantly.

Alongside this,  I travel widely, across France, Europe and beyond, building a considered, comparative knowledge of hotels and destinations. I believe, sincerity, authenticity and human connection are the essential foundations of any truly memorable experience.

Some places photograph beautifully but disappoint on arrival. Others reveal themselves more slowly and stay with you long after you leave. Knowing the difference is the heart of what I do.

Thoughtful Stays - Beautiful Places

Intelligent, Calm, Considered.

Independent

My recommendations draw on a combination of personal experience, deep research and professional judgement.

Where I have visited a place, I say so. Where I haven't, I apply the same standards I would if I were there, or wishing to visit myself, cross-referencing multiple trusted sources, reading between the lines of what others say, and drawing on my own knowledge of what genuinely good hospitality looks and feels like.

The Considered Edit is entirely independent.

I don’t take commission, and I have no commercial relationships with hotels or providers. My recommendations are made without influence, and always on merit.

You book directly, remain in full control of your trip, and benefit from considered, unbiased guidance throughout.

What I offer is time, knowledge, and an editor’s eye, carefully applied to your journey.

Considered Travel, Thoughtfully Designed.

Curated Journeys for those who value atmosphere, detail and a true sense of place.
